Outstanding portrait of a man, painted by Frédéric Millet (1786-1859), around 1820.

The male portraits by Frédéric Millet, are always imbued with a very special force, mixture of gravity and virility, which is their own.

His touch, inherited from his apprenticeship with Isabey, is very recognizable here.

Frédéric Millet was one of the best miniaturists of the first half of the 19th century. An unavoidable figure in the Salons from 1806 to his death, he was a multiple medalist and a painter for the d'Orléans family.
