Miniature by Louis-Gabriel Moreau, said the elder. Moreau was  painter of the Count d' Artois, he is rightly considered as one of the best landscapers of his time.

Wildenstein devoted a work to this artist whose original works are quite rare. Often imitated, Louis-Gabriel Moreau’s miniatures are characterized by a blue/green pallet.

The scene here is located at the entrance of a park, in front of a portico decorated with columns, a couple of lovers embrace, but at the top right, on the terrace, another woman with an umbrella, observes them.It is worth noting this interesting recurring theme in the miniatures by Louis-Gabriel Moreau : this  woman with the umbrella, leaning at the top of a terrace, appears in practically all her works !
