Miniature by Louis-Gabriel Moreau, known as the eldest. Painter to the Count of Artois (King's brother), he is rightly considered one of the best landscape artists of his time.

Wildenstein devoted a work to this artist whose original works are quite rare. Often imitated, the miniatures of Louis-Gabriel Moreau are characterized by a blue/green palette.

The scene here is in countryside, a shepherd assisted by his dog, passes the ford to his cows, he returns to his village, which can be seen in distance, at the top of a hill..
