LAMI G. E., EMPIRE MINIATURE PORTRAIT, CIRCA 1810
An Empire period portrait by E.Lami, showing a young man with curly hair. G. E. Lami was pupil at Augustin’s studio in 1804. He exhibited at the Salon in 1806. The apprenticeship with Jean-Baptiste Jacques Augustin is clearly visible in this beautiful portrait. The relief is extremely well rendered and the shirt collar as well as the embroidered vest seem to literally come out of the frame. The eyes have this colorful bluish ring, detail guaranteeing quality, characteristic of works of the master and his best students.TECHNIQUE:
