Miniature on Ivory signed on right : Héloïse Leloir, from the artist’s family and showing a boy playing with dominos. Héloïse Leloir, born Colin was the daughter of the painter Alexandre Colin. She exhibited until 1842 under her maiden name. She married the painter Auguste Leloir on that date and then signed her miniatures with her wife’s name. Her miniatures are very rare. The famous painter Fançois Edouard Picot (1786-1868) was his wedding witness; Achille Dévéria (1800-1857) was his parents. The children of the couple were Maurice Leloir (illustrator) and Alexandre-Louis Leloir (painter). Héloïse was, with her sisters (Adèle Anaïs wife of painter Toudouze, and Laure Noël), among the greatest illustrators of Parisian fashion.
