The portrait is identified inside : "Édouard Boissier brother of  mrs Naville-Boissier, died young in Paris".

Édouard Boissier (1787-1810) was assistant professor of chemistry at the Geneva Academy. He disappeared at the age of 23 in Paris. His sister was Sophie Naville-Boissier.
