FRAME SIZE: 6cm

DESCRIPTION :

Rare miniature by Pierre Chasselat (1748-1814) , signed on the right : Chasselat Pxt.

The portrait is identified on the reverse: "Jean Allut the older, deputy of Montpellier in the Etats Généraux in 1789. Born 7 8Bre (October) 1746. To marry in 1788 Marie-Élisabeth André"

Probably painted around 1788 (for his marriage) or 1789, when Mr. Jean Allut came to Paris for the Etats Généraux of 1789, Pierre Chasselat having made his whole career in Paris where he was "Painter to the King".

One will admire the brilliance with which Chasselat rendered the silk of costume, in a very particular blue that was his own and that can be found in almost all his works.
