Large miniature signed by Johann Baptist Göslt (1813-1895), below on the right, was resume a contemporary painting by Charles Joshua Chaplin (1825-1891) of 1886 entitled "Dans les rêves"(in the dreams) .

This  beautiful miniature is a perfect evocation of the Parisian atmosphere of the end of 19th. century.

Around a sleepy young woman, scattered on the open bed, a range, a mask, jewels ...evoke the return of a ball, of a party.

Charles Chaplin was very appreciated by empress Eugénie, who orders him  several paintings and asks him to decorate the lounge of the semicircle (French National Assembly) to the Élysée Palace, the Garnier Opera and the palace of the Tuileries. "Official" artist of the second Empire, he begins his career with the naturalism to turn then to the worldly portrait. He acquires a reputation of intimist painter of the woman. He opens in Paris one of first workshops of artistic training reserved for the women in 1866. He sends his works to the Salon between 1845 and 1868.

Johann Baptist Göslt made, among others :
