PORTRAIT SIZE: 10,5cm

FRAME SIZE: 11,5cm

DESCRIPTION :

Very large miniature, showing the portrait of a fair girl, on a  satin blue curtains background, signed to the right : Monnier.

Several artists signed under this name in this period : Anicet-Charles Le Monnier ( 1744-1824 ), and Philippe Monnier (? 1838).

The dress and the hairstyle of the girl do not allow to date more exactly the work. The touch, rivals in quality, that of Sicardy at the beginning of the XIXth century.

This large-sized on ivory miniature, required the enlargement of the patch of ivory on the left. The joint was  placed by the artist in curtains, for less visibility.

The silver frame had the transformations. We distinguish in the backhand the track of two necklaces of suspension, eliminated for the benefit of a central punched silver bail, welded later onlyon one  amounts of the frame(to allow the opening).

CONDITION: Very good original condition. Artist's join of origine in left part. Transformations on frame.
