The Honorable Thomas Dawson, Hurter. Pinx. 1784.

Thomas Dawson (1771-1787) was the only son of the 1st viscount, then Baron Lord Cremorne, Thomas Dawson (1725-1813). The enamel dated by Hurter on 1784 gives us the exact age of the young Thomas : 13-year-old..

Hurter was one of better  Swiss artist for enamel. He settled in London in 1777 and became the official painter of the court where he made, among others, the portraits of George III of England, queen Charlotte, William Cavendish duke of Devonshire and his wife Georgina Spencer.
