Jean-Daniel Welper (1730-1789) was a painter to King Louis XV and to the Prince de Condé, master in drawing of Mesdames de France, daughters of the king.

The miniatures signed by his hand are rare. An official portrait of his sovereign, made and signed by his hand, even more.
