Miniature signed on the left : Heinsius pinxit.

HEINSIUS Johann-Julius (1740-1812) was the painter and miniaturist of Mesdames de France, daughters of Louis XV. In 1790, he had fled the Revolution and settled in Orléans, going to Paris regularly.

This beautiful portrait, dating from the 1790s, counts as one of the last painted by the artist under the Ancient Regime.
