DESCRIPTION :

 Regency gold box  gold studded lid and bedrock,  decorated with chinoiseries : a dragon emerging from under a tree, advances towards a pagoda.

Protected inside the box, without protective glass, as the first miniatures on Ivory were, a miniature scene, shows a couple playing music, a dog sleeping at their feet.

About the origin of this precious snuffbox, difficult to pronounce with certainty, Naples ? Germany ? as the gold have no  punch (18k tested gold).

About the history and technique of the gold-piqué (gold studded), we will consult the work of Alexis Kugel "Complètement piqué" published after the beautiful exhibition on the gold-piquée tortoiseshell of the court of Naples.
