NEWTON William John (1785-1869), PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG MAN, MINIATURE DATED 1813
Large miniature showing a young man holding a book, monogrammed and dated on the book : W.I.N. 1813 Sir William John Newton (1785-1869), was one of more important miniaturists of his time. Painter of Queen Victoria, King Guillaume IV and Queen Adélaïde, he made all his career in London. We find his works in Victoria and Albert museum, in Windsor Castle and in numerous private English collections. Léo Schidlof dedicated him a very laudatory article in his dictionary (The miniature in Europe, 1964).TECHNIQUE:
