DESCRIPTION :

Very rare pair of snuff boxes with double compartments (above and below), in the shape of drums. Painted under all their faces, protected by a varnish Martin, tortoiseshell inside .

The Imperial family :

- On a lid, Napoleon crowned by the Abundance and the Fame, the second lid : Empress Marie-Louise and their son. The barrel is painted by a frieze of Loves fighters.

The departure for the war :

- on a lid, a dragon kisses his betrothed, second lid : the symbols of  Love. The barrel is painted by a frieze of Loves leaving for war in music.

The presence of the "Aiglon" in Marie - Louise's arms allows to date this rare pair of snuff boxes of 1812


CONDITION: Very good original condition. One mount is missing inside one box
