DESCRIPTION :

Exceptional feminine portrait under the French Revolution (feminine by the model and by the artist), this  beautiful portrait of an elegant young woman, wearing a tricolour cockade, is signed by Marie-Gabrielle Capet (1761-1818) : M. G. Capet An 2.d. R. (for Marie Gabrielle Capet year 2 of the  Républic).

Dressed in a mauve frock coat, characteristic of the artist’s palette, the young Lady wears an elegant hat adorned with ostrich feathers, in the middle of which stands out the Revolutionary cockade .On the back of the bench is the signature of the famous painter, followed by a date that takes here, associated with the roundel,, all its importance : Year 2 of the Republic (between October 6, 1793 and September 21, 1794 ).
